Dear Pet Parents,

Those of you who have known me for a long time have probably come to expect my annual update on the state of my personal life every April first. Well, you will not believe what is happening now...I have a new family member! But, I have to start @ the beginning...

My cats, Miriam and Claudia, and I have been living dogless for about 7 months. The girls had been loving the extra attention, but after while I noticed that they seemed a little restless. Maybe without canine companions, they were becoming bored. Everything came to a head when I brought a skateboard deck home as one of my art projects. I woke the next morning and the deck was gone along with both of my cats! And all of my petty cash was missing, too. What could have happened? I was distraught, as I am sure you can imagine. I looked everywhere for my girls. After a few weeks, a neighbor told me that he had seen two cats @ the local skate shop. One of them had a red skateboard deck between her front legs and the other one placed some trucks (wheels) on the counter and paid for them in cash! It was then that I knew that my kitties had robbed me and were using the skateboard to travel...God only knows where. I thanked my neighbor for the information, hung my head and left for home.

You know the saying that when one door closes another opens? Well, that has certainly been my experience. And the absence of my kitties left a big hole in my heart. But just when I thought I'd swear off ever having another pet, what do you think happened? My cats returned! They rode the skateboard right up the driveway...and they brought a little friend. What would you say if your skateboarding cats were followed by a tiny kitten with her own skateboard? All I could say was "Welcome home."
