No*. Local clients can make arrangements to have your products dropped off anywhere on your property while you are away. "My pet is having a little diarrhea. Can I have him/her groomed during our Learn 2 Groom lesson?"
No. Your pet should be seen by a veterinarian if s/he is exhibiting any of these symptoms: loose bowel movements, vomiting, coughing, runny nose, excessive watery eyes. Please, call prior to your appointment to cancel if you know this is the case. If a pet is in questionable health s/he will not be groomed. In fact, if any pet or person within the household (not just the pet scheduled for grooming) is exhibiting any of these symptoms, the appointment should be canceled. We travel from household to household and take health and wellness very seriously. We love our clients and do not want to risk carrying a potentially contagious disease to any person or pet. We can reschedule after your veterinarian or your personal health care professional gives the all clear. If a pet becomes sick during pet sitting services, s/he will be taken to your veterinarian immediately.
"I don't know if you can teach me to groom in my home. What do I need to provide?"
There is very little that is required. Adequate parking within 30 feet of entry of your home is a must. A well lit room with electrical outlets, plenty of natural light for grooming and a trash receptacle. A list of tools you will need for your particular dog will be emailed prior to the visit. We allow 10 minutes before and after the groom to set-up and remove equipment @ no charge to you. We do not bathe pets in human bath tubs, climb stairs with equipment or groom outdoors.
"Can my friends and family watch my pet being groomed?"
Absolutely! We only ask that your friends refrain from talking to your pet or calling his or her name so that s/he will not become overly excited on the grooming table. Everyone should behave as they normally do in the home. A general rule is to have them stand or sit @ least 5 feet from the grooming area. Please, postpone snapping photos of your pet until after the grooming is completed. Video taping Learn 2 Groom lessons is NOT permitted.
"I already groom my pet at home. I would like to learn more, but don't know that I need a full on grooming lesson. Is there another option?"
Yes. Those clients for whom in-home grooming lessons are not a good fit, we offer Ask a Master Groomer online sessions. Contact us to schedule an appointment of 15 minutes or more and we'll meet via ZOOM.
"My pet has bitten me when I have tried to groom him/her at home. Can you help me Learn 2 Groom my pet?"
Give us a call and we can talk it over: 832-549-1730. We do not groom vicious animals. However, in certain circumstances almost any animal can become agitated to bite. We take these animals on a case-by-case basis. We have had success with most pets. If a pet has severe bite aggression toward humans, we may refer you to a behaviorist before setting an appointment.
"My pet isn't housebroken. Is this a problem for grooming?"
It doesn't have to be. Some pets have "accidents". If, however, you know your pet is not housebroken at all, is incontinent or lifts his leg indoors, we ask that you let us know. Some of our clients' pets wear belly bands (males) or doggie diapers. We do not accept incontinent pets, pets that mark or that are not housebroken without belly bands and/or diapers. Nor do we accept pets that are undergoing chemo-therapy.
"My pet is elderly and has a severe, noncontagious health condition. Would you consider teaching me to groom my pet?"
Give us a call and we can discuss the best way to care for your aging friend: 832-549-1730.
"Is it customary to tip?"
Yes. Gratuity is not mandatory, but it is appreciated. Most clients add a 10 - 20% gratuity for a job well done.
